After signing up for Facebook I also had the same reaction: who are all these people? I don't want them to send me a Blue Martini or offer to play Checkers with me. I don't want to reciprocate all their requests, feel all that obligation weighing me down for someone who was my 9th grade algebra homework buddy. And the "Oh, we own all your information!" fiasco from a couple weeks back is even more icky, so no thanks, I'll take a pass and get on with Real Life, which doesn't involve me sitting in front of a monitor telling it what I like and don't so I can get an adstream squirted at me.
