Some observations

Who knew that "Kramer" is spelled with three "K"s?

Robert Altman, most famously known as the director of M*A*S*H and many other great (and some not-so-great) films, has died. M*A*S*H, and especially the resulting television series was a ever present influence as I was growing up. He'll be missed.

So, there's talk bubbling up of reinstating the draft. Not that I have anything to worry about, after all I am too old and too gay. Even though the chances of it passing are basically preposterous, it should create some thoughtful dialog on the possibility sending the sons and daughters of the general populace into harm's way and not relying on volunteers. More importantly, it should keep people from thinking that starting a war is a given.

Tomorrow evening I will head up to PA for Thanksgiving, aka Happy T. Not sure how happy it will be for me, I know it will be rough at least sometime, it's that which I am not looking forward to. One thing is definite, I am thankful for Jeff and his family for putting up with me through the years.

How old are you? I'm 57 and was 20 and classified 1A in 1969 ,the height of the Viet Nam war. I saw way to many of my friends get drafted and come back all fucked up or dead. You think it will solve some kind of hunger for war? Think again buddy. These assholes don't give a rats ass about what the middle class or the poor think about anything. There will always be a way around the draft for the rich or anyone who is creative enough to figure one out like I was back then. All it means is that more of the poor will go off and be killed fighting for something they will never get even if they lived ,just like in the Viet Nam era.What you are starting to see in the world is the rich scrambling for everything thay can get their greedy hands on before the shit hits the fan . There are what,5 billion of us or is it 6,I loose track . Thing is this, the planet can't take much more and things are gonna get tough for a whole bunch of us real soon and a draft will do nothing but make it even more difficult for us regular folk ,you know the people who work for a living and try to have some kind of a life , to get by. I say FUCK CHARLIE RANGLE and his god damn draft!

Hey, You're entitled to your opinion just like I am, that's what keeps it interesting. As for the link I really don't care how many countries have a draft or not 'cause there aren't any political systems on this earth I really care for.They are just a means for the rich to control the rest of us . Just like religion, politics is poison

It's just the whole idea that some stinking goverment can force people to go kill one another that is wrong,completely wrong .It's time for a new way to veiw the world and these goverments for the rich by the rich have to go.There are many of us that felt this way 40 years ago and still do so get used to it 'cause we are going to start being vocal again just like in the 60's. Actually a draft would speed that up some but the thought of it is so repugnant. It's bad enough that we play cops of the world but to force people to is totally wrong. These people who join the armed forces do so of their own free will however misguided but they choose to be put in harms way.War is wrong and until people come to truly believe that the human race will be plagued with it.
