I don't think the human capacity to problem solve is any more now than it was then, given a task, they could do almost anything mechanical that we can do today. It's a matter of the raw materials being available and the need being there. I really don't think we'll hear about bar-code scanners from biblical times, but I'd not be surprised that we will discover a lot more in our lifetimes of what they were able to do in their lifetimes.
