I have to share a story I discovered the other day via an entry in the
cat_macros community. It involves a very seriously injured kitten that was discovered near a park, a good bit of his front legs and a section of his tail torn off by what appeared to be an unlucky encounter with machinery of some kind. The story takes us from finding the kitten, the 'rescue' which involves the Best Friends Animal Society, the treatments and surgery, recovery, and eventual adoption of the kitten. Because the poor creature had lost his front legs, he got around by walking and hopping using his back legs in a somewhat upright position. This immediately earned him the name "Roo", for his kangaroo-like means of movement.
Throughout Roo's journey he wins the love and hearts of everyone he encounters, including his feline companions. I myself was completely drawn into this story, amazed at the determination of little Roo to live and love. Some people might not have given Roo much hope, but one look into those sharp eyes and engaging expression, all those involved made sure that this would be a happy ending for Roo. And no one more than Roo himself.

Date: 2007-09-30 04:23 pm (UTC)She'd just occasionally forget she didn't have all 4 and go to lift her front paw to wash her face and fall over. There was much staring around the room with "I MEANT TO DO THAT" eyes.
That first picture just breaks my heart though. Glad to read of the happy ending.
