Feb. 4th, 2005 12:35 amI finally got off my furry butt and did some much needed updating to the PC Of Doom this afternoon. I finally got useable backups made, so it was time to throw in SP2. It went in without a hitch (I fully expected it to). A number of other updates went in as well. I also installed the copy of Office XP Professional that I discovered among boxes of trash set outside of a lab where I work. It went in and the activation (ugh) was a go too. W00t@getting 400 bux worth of software for teh free!!!1 The joy was short lived as I updated the MusicMatch Jukebox package that I use to manage files on my iPod. The update 'broke' the iPod plugin and manager. Figures. Looking up the reason why on the MM site I see they arent able to offer the iPod plug-in anymore. I go to Apple and get it, and it wont install properly. Fuck. At least Ephpod still works. I was never a big fan of Music Match anyway, but I also didnt want to drink the Kool Aid and go with iTunes for the simple reason that I am not fond of Apple's heavy-handed upgrading policies. We'll see.
In other news, if my tools are delivered tomorrow, this weekend I am gonna tear into the MINI and start adding my long-delayed performance mods to it. For now it's just a overdrive supercharger pulley and a JCW cold air intake kit. I am putting in a couple of extra gauges for water and oil temp as well (MINIs with Navigation like mine lose the water temp gauge for a goddam idiot light). I have a set of 380cc JCW injectors to go in as well once I determine the ECU upgrade ('chip') path I will take to fully use them. Coming soon is a Milltek catback exhaust, UNIchip add-in programmable ECU controller, a set of H-Sport springs and adjustable sway bars, and new tires and wheels. Gotta be ready to slay the Dragon in May!
Sears called tonight to inform me that my toolbox add-on cabinet FINALLY arrived. Used to be, Sears would be able to get things in store in about a week or so. This has been on order since December. It's about time I get the cardboard boxes of tools that wont fit in the already over-six foot tall tool chests off the floor. And I'm sure it still wont hold all of what's there. Yes, my collection of tools and diagnostic equipment rivals what some commercial outfits have, but that comes with the territory. I am a grease monkey, yes, but I'm refined. Somewhat. X-D
