Phat Tuesday
Feb. 28th, 2006 08:34 pmReports of the death of my blog are kinda exaggerated. I'm still around, sporadically checking my friend's list and even trying to post occasionally. Life here has been a tad hectic, but hopefully will return to some normalcy soon. Mom's Stratus is FINALLY out of the body shop as of this afternoon (it's been in since the 6th, the start of my NYC trip). So far it passes my scrutiny on the bodywork and paint; it will need a bit of detailing underhood and in the trunk gutter areas and other places where the sanding dust and whatnot accumulated. It's also missing the beltline molding on the front passenger door, that piece was on backorder. Overall, the finish looks quite nice. I'd go as far as to say it is better now than when new. Chrysler kicked in a 400 dollar credit for the patchy paint failures that were obviously the fault of retouching after delivery. Kudos for them for doing this on a 5 year old car. The car has been trouble free otherwise, save for a heater control lever. I guess Mom will hafta hold onto the car a bit longer now. At least I dont have to play chauffeur anymore, and she does not have to feel bad about not having transportation and thinking she's bothering me. Already I am considering a nice set of aftermarket rims and tires for it, seeing it's loooking rather sweet now. Pics to come soon.
Bonus on the car work: The body shop boss who we dealt with during all of this was a amicable, handsome pocket bear. Apologized often for the work taking longer than usual, but I had a tough time being angry with him anyway.
Work has been, well, work. Nothing of note there. Side jobs are few, but that's fine; I can use the time to deal with other issues.
Jeff is missing Bear the PicoPooch. His work still has him working longer hours and odd times, so the dogsitting I've been doing has been a big relief for him. Watching the 'reunion' should be priceless. ;-)
Blargh goes out to the new computer I've been assembling, as it appears the mobo is defective. Over the weekend I picked up an Asus A8N32-SLI mobo as a replacement for the Abit board I have currently. The Abit forums are full of people complaining about the same intermittent, eventual lockups I am dealing with. Conversely, even more are seemingly having no trouble at all. A new BIOS did not help matters any. I am hoping that I can resolve the issues with the Abit board, as it's layout is more what I want. If this is the case, the Asus will make one hella nice HTPC.
I'm off now to chase after the MicroMutt since he's still dragging my shoes out into the middle of the living room floor and chewing on them. I'd really be pissed about this if it were not for the fact that watching this dog haul around shoes that are the same size as he was not so entertaining.
*pats full, solid belly*
Happy Mardi Gras!
