Been a dog lover all my life and have seen my share of them go.
Probably 2 of the hardest to go were Sasha, whom was mine from the time I was a year old until I was, what 11 at the time, and she was about 10-12 years old, this being around 1976.
And Bart a few yeas back. I was not there when he went, but Mom came home to find him paralyzed with only 1 paw functioning, and had managed to turn himself around to face the back door into the garage so he could see her come home.

He had to be put down, and was around 12 himself.
They were both Dachshunds.
