I'm finding that more people from our ten year's past "heyday" of Livejournal are beginning to come back into the fold lately. It does my aging heart good. There were lots of good times. There were also lots of bad, but there was never a lack of community support during the dark moments. I credit the gang here for helping me through the worst times of my life, making it easier to cope and not feel so alone in my suffering and sadness. I can also give lots of thanks to so many who've made me smile, laugh and cry with some of the happiest and more fun times I've ever enjoyed facing a screen. I sincerely hope the momentum continues and we can make this back into that special haven we had.

I also would love for that to happen. One of the things that I predict for online interactions--I can't bring myself to call it socializing--is that it will push to the edge of a wave of craziness, then pull back to a level that is more comfortable. If we don't ruin ourselves in the process, that is. LJ is comfortable, for me. Facebook and Twitter are not.

I should get back to putting things down here more often.

Of late, I've pretty much only been reading and commenting. I need to get off my duff!

Hear, hear! I agree. I'd glad there is new movement over here. I slipped away for awhile because I simply had to, and then got sucked into that which is the FaceBorg. But I prefer it over here.

It is delightful and makes me happy. I hope the move back to LJ gains momentum!

I never bothered joining Twitter, and Facebook for me is sheer hell. The "news feed" is a complete mess, trying to keep up with friends' posts is nigh impossible without visiting each of their pages directly, the whole idea of Facebook deciding what I think I want to view fails terribly. Facebook decides what it wants me to view, nothing more. I see posts from people outside my friend's group that I often would not want to see, and sometimes it makes me feel uncomfortable seeing certain entries. G+ is the same way. At least Google+ shows all the entries in the order they were posted. LJ presents entries exactly as they are being posted, I have relatively tight control of who can see what, and I don't have to worry about advertisers, games and apps hijacking my information.

I like this place.

I'm guilty of that too. I read at least once daily, and I try to comment where I feel it's appropriate, but posting is, like, haaarrd... ;)

It's more work, but far more satisfying. I often wait until late at night before I head to bed to catch up.

I grudgingly went to FB because everyone else moved over there. I much prefer it here. It feels far more personal.

here is way too much noise over in FB, it's difficult to follow individual people there. The news feed, the equivalent to LJ's Friends entries, if a disjointed, out-of-sequence mess missing lots of potential information. Some people had no idea I was getting married. I used FB to alert people of this, and only a small fraction ever saw it.

I'm here, and am glad to see LJ begin to regain a life again.

LJ, like blogging takes up a good deal of time, mainly in writing, if not answering commenter questions etc.

Right now, I get all spam on my blog, and just eliminated 28 of them suckas.

The post I just posted there was in finding a fresh stash of moving boxes out by the dumpsters this evening, of which I brought in as I know I'll need them, eventually.

Want to eliminate spam? Turn on the option that logs the IP addresses of posters.

LJ does take a bit more time than any of the other platforms, but it's worth it.

I was on Facebook for one day. It was more than enough for me.

I'm glad you're still here! :)

Just keep posting, big guy. LJ is a brighter and better place because of men like you.

I had noticed an uptick in the number of people I see posting. I hope the trend continues. I do need to post here more often myself - I admit that a lot of my focus is on G+ these days. I've got a Twitter account but only skim it occasionally (I keep it mainly because I was able to snag @Furr and thus am loath to give it up). I've never had a FaceBORG implant, and at this point never will. ;)

Trust me, Facebook is not worth the eventual hassles you'd have using it. I signed up years ago, before it became the unchecked behemoth it is now.

G+ for me is beginning to suffer some of the ills I see in FB. When I set my view to "friends" I do see a nice, consecutive list of posts. What I also see is posts by people not in my circles but from those of a friend of a friend that commented in their public entry. Some of these posts (to me, at least) didn't seem to be something they would've wanted to share world-wide. Seems a tad pushy in the quest for attempting to connect everyone with everyone.
