Devastated

greatbearToday I found out my best friend's mom died last night or early this morning, suddenly. This woman was like a second mother to me. I knew them since 1973. I'm still in shock, because Jeff and I saw them on Saturday when we took some bulky items to their place, and she was looking great.
This will be rough for my friend. They were already hit by some hard times and illnesses, and he's in far worse shape because of back and nerve trouble than me, plus a bunch of other medical issues. They were struggling to keep their home, and I had been doing my part by buying up his old shop equipment from the days when he ran an auto-truck repair business. I wish I could do more.
This hits hard.
