New tuneage
Mar. 12th, 2005 01:41 pmLooks like Mark Weigle has a new 2-CD set out. I make no secrets about loving this man's music. While mostly classified as either country or folk, his music spans many genres and I find all of it very listenable. His new effort, called Soul Sex, shows him delving even more personally and politically into his songwriting. I found all his past CDs very enjoyable and engaging, to the point where I actually took some time out of what I had going on and sat and listened, liner notes in hand, like the old days. When I met Mark a few years ago in DC I thanked him for creating such eminently listenable songs in a sea of disposable pop tripe. He's a genuine, personable and likeable man. And quite the cute, fuzzy otter to boot.
Mark's new release can be found at CD Baby. A more in-depth description can be found here, along with song samples. Give 'em a listen. Betcha get the CDs.
Note: This is a two-CD set, made up of two diametrically opposite albums Wrestling the Angel and Versatile. The latter of the two can be classified as aural gay porn. Seriously. Not Work Safe! Damn hawt though. >:-)
