[livejournal.com profile] thehoss would like to know “What’s your ideal date with someone?”

It depends on the context. I’m more or less an old-fashioned romantic. When I set out to go on a ‘traditional first date’, I kind of expect it to turn out as such. Dinner, a movie, hanging out together, lots of chitchat, having fun. Sex does not have to be part of the equation. I actually prefer this as such. There’s something to be said about moving slowly in the beginning of what might be a burgeoning relationship. It’s more fun, you look forward to the next date, plan things accordingly. This also lets both parties know more about each other and helps suss out any potential incompatibilities. An ideal date leaves me with a smile on my face and looking forward to the next one.

The above is completely separate from just going out for some quick fun, however... *eg*

To follow that up: could "some quick fun" turn into datable material? How would already having done the deed affect the first date scenario?

It certainly can. I guess the big difference is that the latter scenario did not have the initial expectations of a date. To me, at least, there is nothing precluding this encounter from becoming a full-on series of dates. Two people can 'hit it off' before, during or after they have sex; it's not impossible by any means.
