Die Telemarketers, DIE, DAMMIT!
Well, yet another setback in the war of keeping those scumbags off my telephone at all hours of the day.
Judt as fast as Congress moves to make the FTC rule enforceable, yet another fuckwad judge that no doubt has ties to the telemarketing industry declares the new law an infringement of free speech and once again holds up the enforcement.
WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!
I am sorry. No way is the act of someone using a service paid for BY ME, using up MY TIME, to attempt to sell me goods and services that I DO NOT WANT in the first place "free speech". It's another thing entirely to provide a service to people to use the phone for buying stuff as they want it; i.e. call a number and request something, then an ongoing business relationship is formed and continues between customer and merchant from there. That's all fine and dandy. What ISNT are the endless calls bombarding me and everyone I know coming from boorish, deceptive telemarketing boiler rooms. I try to be polite and say no, they get defensive, take a hard tack or become downright rude. I am done dealing with these people in a polite way.
This industry brought upon itself all the bad reputations and ill will they are receiving and now it's time to pay the piper. Greed, deception and mass attack calling tools turned the telephone into a battle zone in every day life. People like me are pissed off and not going to take it anymore. The DMA does not want to hear any of this, and is doing everything in their power to continue their assault on the population.
Because of this, I want nothing less to see this business sector decimated and the people responsible in some severe dire straits. I am through being a nice guy. I am done with being patient and polite. Their methods have made me detest them.
Latest tactic: Not a day goes by it seems nowadays where I dont get a pitch stating that I have won a free vacation. Each and every one starts off with the same lie: "I am calling you because you or a family member had filled out an entry form entitling the winner to a free vacation to such-and-such..." Well, never have I nor any family member filled out such cards, and this is just a clear attempt to exploit a loophole in the new law that allows businesses with a 'prior established business relationship' to make calls to those customers. The kicker with these pitches is that they are often left on my answering machine as long, drawn out, rapid-fire selling that I have to contend with to get to the real messages. These people have NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to use my facilities as such in an attempt to sucker me into their deals.
It's shit like this that makes me want to see telemarketers and their families out of work, sick and starving to death. Okay, that's a bit harsh I guess. Take out the 'sick' part.
Would anyone like to keep my soapbox warm while I run off to lunch? I know I will need it again very soon!
