They call themselves "MC" mainly because of the membership process. Unlike many gay clubs where you just sign up, you have to be sponsored by an existing member then 'prove' yourself over time to gain membership much like the way motorcycle clubs work.
Granted, cars and bikes are too often reduced to 'fashion accessories' in the gay community, which to me is sad. I know there are 'real' clubs out there that have gay membership, but I cant think of any off the top of my still-sleepy head this morning.
