To continue my little rant yesterday, I got a bit miffed that after all the dealings with getting the trailer and assembling it with lots of help, at the end of thr route not only did most of the people shuffle off to the block party, but I had to give up my prime parking spot to go back to the Eagle and finish ripping the thing down with minimal help. After that, I decided to go ahead and leave Jeff to go to the block party while I took the truck and float home and pick up the Mini which would have been easier to park. I forgot there was an Orioles's game, so the traffic returning to town was bad. Upon returning, no parking was to be found. I got frustrated even more to the point of going home and skipping out on everything and just picking up Jeff when the party was over. Instead, he joined me and we were gonna call it a night until we finally found a pay spot at Center Stage. We salvaged the night and still got to see Morel and RuPaul perform then found a party where a bunch of our friends were hanging out. A bit of molestation later and we were on our way home to continue with more molestation of our own. Today was lazy for both of us; we skipped the festival and I loaned the truck to my buddy Tim to do the jail cell hauling. Besides, the truck gave Tim some much-needed butch points.

Saw [livejournal.com profile] cjliotta and waved at him while trying to find a parking spot on Saturday. He had no idea who I was. lol

The crowd was the biggest that I can recall for a Pride event. During the setup of the float we had people coming up to us asking where the parade was and all that. To top it off, I had to drive the float with the guys on it from the Eagle to the staging area, at least a mile or so. Our float got mostly positive responses from people in traffic and on the roads (despite my blocking traffic along the way). Only once did we hear some 'phobic cunt screaming "you need jeeeeezisssss". Typical.

Good points:

The Block Party. Great way to end the parade and keep the vibe going.
Entertainment.
Friends.
Weather.
Kids.
People brought their children to the event and they were all having a blast.

The bad points:

The aforementioned float/parking issue.
Groping.
Both of us were being felt up more than usual. This would not have been too much of an issue, but it was mostly by trolls and nasties. Had they've been hotties, the favor would most likely been returned.
Gay Gridlock. So many people, it was tough to move around. Corollary to groping above.
Dogs. Not usually a problem for me since I love pooches, but with leashes tangling everyone in tight quarters and dogshit on the sidewalks, it was a huge negative.

I wont be volunteering for something like this again unless (as in times past) I had control over some of the logistics and could run things better.
