My heart goes out to Londoners today. I am very upset as well as very angry about the attacks. In some ways I dont know what my reactions will be in regards to all of this, I feel just as numb and angry as I did on 9-11. This time, though, I have absolutely no tolerance for rhetoric and political grandstanding. It wont take much to set me off, and it is not going to be pretty.
I'm way beyond being mad as hell. And I am certainly not going to take it anymore.

Date: 2005-07-07 06:50 pm (UTC)My question however, is what *are* you going to do? As an individual, those who did this aren't targeting you. They are targeting the US government (and other governments that side with the US). The only thing you can do is vote.
Normally, that wouldn't be a bad thing, but it's been shown that we're in the minority (although it may be a false minority, as the republicans have actually changed the voting districts to favour themselves). There is also a bit of a problem with the US system. If the party you voted for fails to be elected, you *lose*. You don't get *anything* for coming in second. Contrast this with a Parliamentary system where the losing party/parties still get seats, and therefore a voice.
So I too, am very upset, as I am sure I know someone who knows someone who was there during the blast... But what is there to do? It's not like we can storm the castle.
