One of the most relaxing Hillside trips ever.

Despite the rains and downpours, the weekend was salvaged by being situated a bit off the beaten path, along the creek. Instead of my usual schmoozing and socializing, me, Jeff, Jeff ([livejournal.com profile] buffalobear), his partner "The Pork" and Jeff's friend Kevin (confused yet?) hung around the lower section of the campground and just enjoyed the outdoors for the most part.

Kevin was our "Hillside Virgin" for this year, and he loved the place.

Sitting by the campfire, next to the creek with some Pink Floyd quietly playing at night was beyond relaxing.

Of course, by Sunday, the weather was hot and beautiful just in time to pack up and head home.

In two weeks, we'll be back for wrestling/car show weekend (muscles and cars, two of my favorite things) then off to Provincetown for a 'real' vacation. Lawd knows I need one o' those.

You know, if you get the same site for next year, if you don't mind, I'd like to tag along and stay on your site. I really wouldn't mind going to hillside if I didn't have to climb up that hill and the creek area seems an ideal portion of the campground IMHO.

that hill can get tiring - going up and down all weekend - it's certainly a workout!

I really really want to go to Hillside. I will be over in summer next year, all going well. Any advice for someone that hasn't gone before?

We are gonna try to get the lower sites from now on. It's so much quieter and cooler in the summer months. Not as much opportunity to schmooze though, but I trek up to the pool, rec center and buddy's spots on the Strip for that.

Bring your BettyTent!

It's just like any sort of camping. But it's not really roughing it by any means. Most sites have water and electric, all have picnic tables, and restroom facilities and showers are plentiful. My advice? bring the usual stuff for camping and just have fun. You'll make lots of friends who will help you along.
