Paid accounts
Jul. 12th, 2005 11:10 pmI'm trying to decide whether or not to continue my Livejournal 'paid account'. I have only made one phone post, never created a poll or used most of the other features save for the extra userpics and an occasional search. My paid status was an "anonymous" gift from a very sweet and studly friend who did so in order to keep me around during a time when I deleted my journal and was ready to give it up save for reading my friend's entries. It would have happened except in deleting my blog I lose access to that friend's list.
So, I put it out to y'all. Do you have a paid account and enjoy it's features regularly, or would you settle for a free account once again? I'm on the fence but leaning towards renewing so far.

Date: 2005-07-13 03:52 am (UTC)I've made a few polls. No phone posts. I think I'd have to have a really good reason to go back to free account.

Date: 2005-07-13 03:59 am (UTC)I haven't yet, because at the moment I'm not getting too terribly much out of it. As a tool for making or strenghening friendships it has fallen short of my expectations and I'm considering dropping it altogether.
If I found that I was getting something out of it I'd get a paid account. I just feel it's the right thing to do.

Date: 2005-07-13 04:11 am (UTC)I like what LJ has brought to me, and to me, the 25 bucks is well worth it if it were mandatory. It's tough deciding during the summer months when I am not online to much!

Date: 2005-07-13 04:42 am (UTC)In your case, I'd hang in there for a while, I didnt know how much it meant to myself until I discovered how much my blog apparently meant to others. I enjoy reading your entries and wish I was closer so we could do some motoring. :)

Date: 2005-07-13 05:21 am (UTC)My poor MINI just sits in the garage. I drive her maybe 150-200 miles a month. She gets dusted more often than washed. Living in SF you just really don't need a car.
Still, I love my MINI and never hesitate to buy more stuff for it. I finally got the flag mirror covers :-)

Date: 2005-07-13 12:10 pm (UTC)1.) I get so much out of LJ tha I feel I should give something back, and
2.) I don't want to give up my H*R iconage. *lol*
It's not expensive and it helps keep the site going. Also the priority posting access for paid members is nice (and I believe that yes, it is still in effect).

Date: 2005-07-13 03:12 pm (UTC)JOhn.
Well
Date: 2005-07-13 05:59 pm (UTC)You can make your own stylesheet/custom look for LJ.
Polls.
Voice postings.
AND
you help keep the company in business.
You can pay as little as five dollars (that's a cheap meal from Taco Bell) and get 2 months paid service from LJ. Try that for a fit; if you like it you could renew for a year.
