It was mostly a weekend of rest, which was sorely needed. Mom returned today from San Francisco, she had a great time. She didnt leave her heart there, she instead picked up a cold. And chocolates. Lots of them.

Speaking of chocolates, what the trick-or-treaters dont claim tomorrow I intend to hoard. Typical me, I buy stuff that if any is left over, I can enjoy. Kit Kats are always a hit, if not for them, for me instead. Like I need the junk food and excess weight.

Speaking of weight, the Incredible Shrinking Me watch for today has me at 237 pounds. My appetite is still not much to speak of, but pain levels are almost back to zero. I feel lethargic mostly from not eating much. I hope to be through this nonsense by the end of this week, depending on what the doctor says.

Speaking of doctors, well, lets not and say we did for now.

Speaking of computers, this one survived the night without issues, and got it's new drive and a restoration of backups, so far so good. I can finally quell my jonesing for new comp CDs and fresh iPod tracks.

Speaking of music, I am sorely missing my usual avenues of, shall we say, less than legal mp3 downloads. If anyone on my flist is still being an outlaw and bringing the music industry closer to collapse with every download, clue me in on where the good stuff is. I still want to find out if stuff is worth buying before dropping coin on CDs.

Speaking of CDs, I still remain old fashioned and enjoy buying CDs (when they are good, of course). Paid digital downloads saddled with a shitload of restrictions does nothing for me. I still feel I should have something tangible and physical for my money. I dont mind shelling for Sirius or Dish Network, that's different. I like my music to be 'mine', even though the industry says it never was. Fuck 'em.

Speaking of Sirius, OutQ rules.

Speaking of rules, how much is everyone enjoying the BushCo lawbreakers getting their comeuppance? And how many like me wish it were a lot more people getting hit a lot harder? Still, schadenfreude (I love that word) is being satisfied in me.

Speaking of being satisfied, I am gonna find some in a nice, long, hot shower and some more rest.

Several things

First of all, I'm glad the 'puter survived the repairs in one piece. I'm with you on comp CD's as I've made a few recently myself. I use both vinyl and CD sources for mine and all vinyl tracks are dumped to DVD before ripping via the 'puter. All CD's get ripped directly using EAC so all remains in the digital domain.

I've never been big on downloads myself although finding older material online is OK, that is, stuff older than a few years old. Grockster has been good in that regard as I've found some old nuggets on occasion through them.

As for the Bush fiasco, I think it's great. Finally, it looks like Bush may be in for some serious shit, especially if Rove is found guilty of something as he's been Bush's puppet master from the git go. Without him, Bush is done for.

And I love good long hot showers too. Spent a little too long in one this morning and was late to church. :-} But it was worth it though.

Glad you are continuing to get better.

I used to surf for otherwise unobtainable tracks on WinMX, but that's gone now. Probably the best option these days is to get a good BitTorrent client (Azureus) and find tracker sites that host the kind of stuff you like. ISOhunt and TorrentSpy are useful aggregator sites that can lead you to more focused trackers.

If you want to buy from the iTunes Music Store without some of the hassles, check out SharpMusique - from the gent who broke the DVD CSS encryption. You see, the downloads from iTMS are NOT ENCRYPTED until iTunes saves them to your hard drive - so using an alternate client means the downloads aren't encrypted. Simple. ;)
