On the mend

It looks like I am slowly on the road to recovery. I am no longer losing weight like crazy and my appetite is returning, and with it my energy. Still, I gotta take it easy when it comes to food, my system is still weak and basically unaccustomed to 'real' food. Ah, well, I been through this before, and I know the drill. I feel I should start lifting again (this has not been serious since (well) before the car accident in 2000). I'll satisfy the initial urge using the few weights I have around the house I suppose.

I am stewing as a number of project are stuck on hold while everything from patio doors to power supplies are seemingly stuck on backorder. I hate it when things I have no control over get in the way of things I want/have to do. When the stuff finally comes in, I gotta contend with cold weather while doing the work. The house Except the sunroom) and garage will get new roofs next year, and I have decided to add a pair of skylights in the living room when that gets done. I will get in the middle of the roofers and cut in/mount the skylights then do the lightshafts when they are gone and I am done with the outside stuff. Work work work.

[livejournal.com profile] jackal had this site in one of his posts. It's been a while since I perused it. And, wouldnt you know, there still is no means to order anything from those pages. I want samples, at least.

Me too, I'm glad you seem to be on the mend.

Good luck with everything. I know about projects being on hold. For me, it's either financial or technical that's holding me up at this point.

So will you have to have it surgically corrected or not?

I should. It's not something that I necessarily have to do, but it's looking like it's a good idea to prevent future problems. It's actually not something you want to have done while in the midst of the disease, since 'permanent' repairs cannot be made to a diseased colon. If this had gotten so bad that I would have needed surgery, I would have had to contend with having a colostomy bag for a 6-8 month period while the remaining colon 'parts' heal from the infection so theintestines can be attached. This would entail (entrail?) two surgeries. I almost had that done once, but mamaged to dodge that bullet (very few have had a rather serious rupture heal without sugery).

If I do have it done, I would have it done when I am normal and healthy, which sounds kind of backwards. I'm still thinking.

It's somewhat of a blessing in disguise, because it's not like I have been physically able to do heavy projects lately, but small stuff like the new computer would be nice to futz with while moping around sick. Takes my mind off of being ill, ya know? lol

Oh I know where of you speak. Right now, I just want to get on with some Christmas projects and I am getting a full copy of Sound Forge from a friend of mine, hopefully sooner rather than later.

No, I understand. That's what happened to [livejournal.com profile] drmrdave -- he had to get healed up enough first so that they didn't have to do a colostomy.

It sucked enough without it. I can't imagine how bad it would have been to have to do that. :-(

Good to hear you're coming out of this bout with a light heart!
It's so easy to let something chronic like this get you down, and I'm happy to read that you're taking care of yourself, and really thinking about when and how you'll deal with it.
Having all these big projects waiting in the wings gives ya something to look forward to, and the little ones, as you say, give you something to putter with while you're healing.
Big hugs!

Glad to hear that you're starting to feel better. I just get tired reading about your projects. Just don't over do it.

Another friend of mine, Ron, has the same illness... he's trying to get back into shape so he could do the surgery too!
