It's been a while since I did much else other than reading and occasionally responding to friends' blogs, so I figured I'l ramble a bit just to keep my few sectors of a server hard drive warm...

I got a new, smaller digital camera today. It's waiting for me when I get home. As kuch as I love my Olympus C5050, it's just too damn big to casually tote with me for non-serious photography. I now have a Canon C230 to fill that need. 3 megapixels and outstanding performance in a package smaller than a packa smokes. Rugged stainless steel body and lots of features. Those who know me and complain that I am always sneaking pics of them have more to worry about, but quite a few of those same people who have complained about those pictures have used them in their profiles, homepages, etc. They cant be all that bad in that case, and seriously, I know how to take good pictures of people. My main problem is getting those pictures TO those people. In my days before broadband, I'd send batches of pics to addresses that would only bounce them back for lack of space, so 20+ excruciating minutes of upload time was wasted. I am so glad to be freed from the shackles of a 28.8 connection (shared among 7 PCs to boot).

Smile guys, you're on candid camera! heh heh heh...

ALong with the camera order (299 bux with a free case and accessories, limited time only! Free shipping!) I added DVDs of Matrix 2 and The Italian Job special edition including the 1969 original movie (required because I have a Mini Cooper), plus CDs of Seal IV and Rush In Rio. So it's definitely an audio-visual kind of order.

Well, it's back to work, another boring day rolls on....

a package smaller than a packa smokes.

Now here is a measurement that used to be utterly, completely commonplace, but has all but disappeared from North American usage. I imagine it's mostly because it's no longer the case that most people smoke cigarettes, and maybe when it was coined most all packs were the same size. Nevertheless, even assuming the largest pack, that's a SMALL camera!
