Mom

Mom's health is steadily declining. She cannot eat much food and is growing weaker. She can barely get around, but still tries like the trouper she is. Sadly, the pain is beginning to increase and it's difficult if not impossible to be comfortable, especially when trying to sleep.

Never in my life have I felt so helpless, so utterly useless.

I am sorry. I have been where you are, and I know how much it hurts. My mother later rallied and stabilized, but we thought for sure the end had come. Be strong.

Near the end, I found it was more important for Mom to be able to choose between being comfortable and being aggressively treated. Whichever choice your Mom makes, make sure she gets to have the choice.
