Okay, forget about my last post. Apparently it was enough to cause a couple de-'friend'-ings because I did not speak of the latest Apple product in dulcet tones, bathed in glorious warm lighting in soft focus and placed on red velvet pillows. For the record, I think it's a cool device, like most Apple products. It's just not for me. Too expensive, and besides, I am stuck with Verizon. And if anyone has an issue with my game of 'Blackberry Bowling', rest assured, I let those people run into me. I dont actively go plowing into them. I solely brace myself for the impact.
I'd say something about keeping my opinions to myself, but this is my territory. I guess I will simply keep it in here from now on.

DO NOT censor opinion. This space is for you to tell it like it is.
its a cool phone.. but I do agree with what you said.. and honestly I won't be one of the first ones rushing to buy this phone.

Date: 2007-01-11 12:08 am (UTC)I. Don't. Care. that there's yet another piece of overpriced electronics available and poised to be outdated next week. I don't! and I can't believe that NPR devoted 5+ minutes this morning to Steve Jobs holding court. Jobs ain't God. That's right. You read it right.
Say your piece man! What ever it is, say it without reserve. Someone scratches you from their list, it's probably actually a good thing to learn now how shallow they are instead of later. And good riddance to them. (*spits*)

Date: 2007-01-11 12:50 am (UTC)Sure, I don't agree with a lot of people in my flist, but to defriend them just because they posted a strongly held opinion? *boggle*
And personally, I'm kinda annoyed that this happened over an Apple product 'cause that will just make us Mac-heads look even more deranged than we already do. :-(
Not that it matters much in the grand scheme of things, but I wouldn't defriend someone over upholding their opinion. Direct attacks on me, my loved ones, or people I care about? Yes. Stating why you aren't interested in the latest gadget? Give me a break.
JOhn.

So, what's an Apple I-Phone and why should I care?
A hyper-accessorized cell phone. You shouldn't unless you have more money than brains. Wait for v2.0 or later.

OK, the UI may turn out to be revolutionary. But there are a number of hardware missteps that may turn off consumers in the long run.
I was also unimpressed

Date: 2007-01-11 12:03 pm (UTC)We have a name for the wanky uber-obsessed gadget freaks here, Nathan Barleys (from TVGoHome and a brief series) - they MUST like the Apple freaks have the latest gadget and don't understand those who don't fawn over technoPr0n.
I too have had my membership of the Apple fanbears torn up, not because I'm a Mac-hater as they think - but because I'm an informed Mac hater (I use them every day for work, and hate all computers equally so never agree with devotion PC/Mac or Unix...)
Keep on, that post made me laugh and agree with you - like those with wheeled luggage and prams, it seems wanking with a gadget seems to override brains in those walking...

Date: 2007-01-11 03:21 pm (UTC)As far as the Blackberry bowling goes, it's not your job to ensure the safety of people who are too stupid to watch where they're going. It's not particularly nice to run into them, but it's not amoral, either. What *I* do is simply stand still and let them run into my shoulder. It lacks the shock value of yelling as you run into them, but it also removes any guilt by turning me into a passive participant.
Just a thought. Keep on being you.
