A fresh take on boring portable radios. It's one for you rockers and metalheads out there.

It appears Plextor is getting out of the computer CD/DVD burner business. A shame, really, since I always felt that their drives were top-notch, albeit expensive. Every PC I have built in the past 7 years here has at least one Plextor drive installed. I gotta say, though, I've had good luck with Lite-On drives as well. They are stoopid cheap, reliable and produce flawless disks.

A computer mouse for people with more dollars than sense. Fashion or otherwise.

A freebie! A Choose Your Own Adventure e-book for your iPod entitled The Abominable Snowman. For PC or Mac, normally 10 bux. I'll let you know how it is later on.

Microsoft plays 20 Questions about the DRM built into Vista. Hey, it's okay. You'll do fine as long as you stick to vinyl and newpapers.

Meaningful stuff coming soon. Stay tuned.

Plextor has always made beyond the ordinary devices. I remember them back in my MP/M on CompuPro days. I could never afford them. Perstor was another company that made really hot stuff and is no longer around.

And to think, I have the cheapest MS optical mouse made. I bought my original one back in 2001, in white for $15 on sale after rebates and an employee discount, originally for $24 then. Then this past fall, I accidently partially severed the cable in the shredder so had to go get another one and found another one, this time in black for the same price nearly and so far, it's also been reliable like the first one was despite some occational rough treatment.

Been familiar with Plextor but more for their HD's than their optical drives. I have an LG multi format DVD burner that gets quite a bit of use and so far, it's held up very well in almost 2 years of use, both in burning and in ripping.

I swear by the Plextor drives - best audio ripping/audio burning drives in the business. fact.

Interesting with Microsoft and DRM...I heard they don't even support Microsoft's "PlaysForSure" DRM on the Zune.
