It seems as though the new truck deal has fallen through. It's been over a week with no return calls, and each time I have called I get the same "we're at the mercy of another dealer" nonsense. I've never encountered a car dealer so unwilling to make an easy sale. Tomorrow I am going there to collect my deposit check, register my dissatisfaction with staff and management as loudly as I can proclaim near as many potential customers as I can and be done with it.

The past week has been one from Hell and I am at my wit's end as a result. At the rate things are going I am either going to need therapy or a nice tall bridge to jump from.

Now that's odd. My experience has always been "What can I do to get your business?" and this one can't be bothered?

Time to let head office know about losing a customer. They'll be pleased.

When shopping I've always been trapped in the showroom until I would sign (I never did) I even had a dealer claim to have lost the keys to the car I was considering trading. I had a spare in my wallet and started to leave, they came running up with my keys...slimey. When I bought my Expedition in Atlanta they sent a runner in a car 500 miles to Florida to drive back what they dealer swapped to get me what I wanted. This mess you are dealing with is fucked up.

Ever since I incorporated my consulting practice ten years ago, I buy cars on the telephone with the fleet sales office. I never had to negotiate at the dealership and the paperwork was always faxed to me prior to me going there to pick it up. Quite literally the only thing I had to do was deliver a check and sign the papers faxed to me earlier. On two occasions I had them make the delivery at my office. Maybe that might be a route to go for you, perhaps getting better service without all the car dealer trickery.

As far as the therapy / bridge decision, I'd go with the therapy, we have this fabu bridge here that seems built just for such events, lots of people have used it, but it's cold and damp up there. Not how I'd want to make a splash on the world.

Sorry you're having a crummy week. Maybe the weekend will be good.

You might also want to drop a message to the manufacturer. I did that once and all hell broke loose at the dealership! By the way, when you start to yell, breathe from the diaphragm, you will get much more volume! :)
