Truckin' and cripplin'

On the way across the parking lot after work yesterday I twisted my ankle. Not thinking much of it, the ankle did not bother me much more than it usually does (I have Achilles tendinitis in my left ankle). Well, upon waking up this morning, I could not put any weight on that foot. Crap. So, I have been popping pain killers and hobbling around the house hoping it would loosen up some. So far, not much luck.
I had to take Kodi out earlier today, so I used that chance to take a couple quick pics of my new, wet truck in the rain:

Those with eagle eyes or too much time on their hands can try and spot reflections of shirtless me in the photos. Yay for hidden bonus beefcake.
Of course, my first installed accessory was the crossover toolbox in the bed. I've had these in every truck I have owned, and despite having all the room in the cab rear now, I still make bigtime use of the extra space the toolboxes provide. Yeah, tools go in there from time to time, but it's a great place for greasy, dirty or smelly parts, tools and stuffs. I have other goodies sitting around that finally have a home in the new truck, I hope to get them installed soon. What kills me about this thing is the high-riding look over pizza-cutter wheels. That needs some taking care of in the near future.

Date: 2007-08-21 09:10 pm (UTC)I guess I wanted something different. Two of my close friends have these as well, and Jeff's '00 S-10 has not been a pain. I recently replaced the intake manifold gaskets, driver's side hinge pins, the rear door door release handle and the transfer case shift motor. Other than those things, it's been just normal maintenance. It's just shy of 100k miles.

Date: 2007-08-21 09:33 pm (UTC)What's funny is I could park the Expedition perfectly. Between the lines and the right distance from the curb, every time. Having been in the construction industry for years I've usually had huge trucks. I can't park the MINI for shit. I'm always too far away from the curb (I think I'm wider and I'm paranoid of curb rash) and I can't judge where the front and back are lining up (is there really a hood up there?). Half the time I have to go back and realign. I feel stupid.

Yeah, the thing is huge. But I got it to serve a few purposes, and it generally wont be a daily driver (though it is comfortable as all get out). Despite it's size and skinny tires, it handles remarkably good, the mileage is improving, and in stock form the 365hp and 660lb/ft allow it to be rather spry in traffic. After break-in I intend to tune those numbers up significantly. ;)

Date: 2007-08-22 12:51 pm (UTC)The kicker is that without lifting the hood, I can tune the engine for 100+ more hp and 200lb-ft more torque just by reprogramming the ECU. Granted, it's additional strain on the components, but it's built to take it. And unlike tuning a gas motor for more power and losing mpg in the process, oftentimes the mods made to a diesel increase the power dramatically, yet improve the mileage as well. I'm going to wait about tuning this thing up for a while, it's got lots of scoot power as it is!

Date: 2007-08-22 01:32 am (UTC)I will agree, very comfy and I rode in it the day we had to tow my Ranger to Bremerton to have the clutch fixed last Dec.
One thing though, I don't like how the did the ends of the front bumper on it however. Too honky and out of scale to the rest of the truck IMO.

Date: 2007-08-22 08:59 pm (UTC)I like the chunky bumpers. Even a big butch truck needs a bit of bling ;)
