Dan Fogelberg, the mellow pop singer/lyricist most memorable for his popular era during the mid 70s to early 80s has died after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was only 56.



My favorite D.F. songs were from his earliest "Phoenix" era. More progressive than the ballads and folksy stuff in later years, but all of his work is known for engaging storylines. He'll be missed, but his work lives on.

I recall this album cover from running into it over the years, mostly in thrift stores and I have to agree that when he had that beard, he was very easy on the eyes.

Although I was never a huge fan, not intimately familiar with his work, I've always known of him since back in the mid to late 70's at the earliest.

I saw Dan Fogelberg five times in concert. He put on an amazing show, equally adept at guitar and keyboard; a true one man show.

I suspect hearing "Same Auld lang syne" will make me misty this year...moreso than the usual year.

Fave song - "Longer" - such a schmaltzy song but so pretty...reminds me of 7th grade - hated junior high, but it was a time of life when being a wallflower at school dances, puberty, and disco were realities in my life.

I liked his music. I was sad to read about his passing earlier this morning. He must have kept it very private. I don't even remember hearing he was sick.
