Spring has somewhat sprung!
Mar. 1st, 2004 12:03 amAh, today was awesome, weather-wise. Among myriad little outdoorsy tasks today I finally got a chance to wash the winter residue off the Cooper and give it some much needed detailing. I know I am gonna jinx myself, but the car is almost a year old and it hasn't suffered a door ding yet. Soon I will begin some much needed (to me, at least) performance mods to this little pocket rocket. It is so unlike me to not have torn into the engine compartment and added some goodies yet. I'll credit doing some major work to the truck this past year for taking time from me playing with this toy. Plus I wanted to give it a good breaking in before I start upping the power to ridiculous level.

This is a pic of the car, as well as a winter-paled version of me, standing in the driveway soaking in the 65 degree heatwave. I was enjoying every minute of being outside. I had the CDs and the iPod cranking for so long I ran the battery down. I am glad that even with all the electronics and technology, I can still give this car a good shove and pop the clutch to start it. lol
hard to say which looks better...

Date: 2004-03-04 11:13 pm (UTC)My hat was missing in action for some reason. I think it was because this was the first nice day of the year and I wanted to soak in as much sunshine with all available skin surface area. As for the BG hat, I am sure it had washed ashoe, gotten scooped out, or sucked into the circulation pumps and ground up.

Date: 2004-03-01 05:51 am (UTC)Also, answer me this: Why is it that I tend to see big people in small cars and small people in big cars? Before my current '99 Buick Century Limited, I had a '77 AMC Matador, '77 Buick Electra 225 and a '95 Buick Century Custom... and I see lots of bears puttering around in tiny trucks, Mini-Coopers and Honda Civics! I guess opposites attract. :)
Lastly, you say you've been having trouble posting. I use the Semagic client, and have never had any difficulty with it. You can find it and other LiveJournal clients here.

Date: 2004-03-04 10:55 pm (UTC)I've had big cars and small. The cool thing about this one is that is has more leg room by far than anything else I have owned. My other diagonally opposite vehicle is an '89 Dodge W250 Cummins Diesel. I will agree to knowing quite a few big bears driving around in little cars. One is a 325 pound musclebear who drive a Toyota Echo. He can lift it quite easily. A 5'8 buddy of mine is buying a '78 Lincoln Continental. A 6'4, 300# friend has a Civic. By what I have found, it seems like the big guys feel comfortable in the smaller cars, where the smaller guys like the perceived safety of the bigger rides.
I have worked around the posting problems. Mostly it was LJ and their endless system troubles, along with me using a new PC with no handy apps other than notepad/wordpad to edit in. I was being lazy by using the richtext webpage posting app, and not bothering to code the HTML (if any). I'm more careful now. :)
Grrrrreat!
Date: 2004-03-01 07:14 am (UTC)The car looks great. You're making me wish I'd gone that route rather than getting my Jeep. I love my Jeep, but the Coopers look like fun too...and they get better milage.

Date: 2004-03-04 10:42 pm (UTC)I was considering a Wrangler Rubicon for a while, but decided I wanted a car, I already have a 4x4 truck. When I saw the new Mini I was determined to try one out, when I did, I was hooked. This car is just too much fun!
