Since deciding to make use of my Flickr account, and since I did not want to drive to work in an ice storm, I spent some time pulling photos off of various memory cards and started cataloging them, This set is from early November of last year. An informal car show is held in the parking lot of a shopping center about five minutes from me. The DC Metro MINI club shows up along with over a hundred other cars, every conceivable make and vintage. This is what I live for. I took the MINI, Jeff, Kodi and my Canon S3-IS and had a field day. The day's color and finery is captured in this photo set. A sampling is below.

The lens flare is real. Nothing done in Photoshop except for resizing and rotating shots. All color and composition is as it comes from the camera. The S3-IS is a great little camera for the price.

Ooh, now that's PRETTY.

I loved older car shows just because of the great designs and hell, the personality the cars had. I love to see all the work someone's put in, and they are almost always gorgeous.

I prefer the older vehicles to what comes out these days -- a lot just lack that personality that makes older vehicles so attractive to me.

That's some incredible engine detailing! I love it when someone starts off with a concept and carries it through, instead of just tacking on random accessories.

Loved that whole set Phil. I love it more when a car is left stock, or as stock as possible. I'd love to have seen more stock european cars such as VW and vintage Japanese makes such as the early Toyotas, Datsuns and Hondas from the late 60's through the 70's anyway, like the early Corolla, the N600 I think it is that predates the Civic, an early civic etc.

I thought I saw a bright red Honda N600 today parked in a parking lot on my way home and all I saw was the headlight and part of the grill and it looked like it too, and it appeared to have been restored too. Another car I love to see stock is the old Nash Metropolitan of the 1950's-early 60's. They were so cool.

Oh those Mopars, nice. Loved the more stock ones from the 60's-70's, the red 74 Road Runner (really a Belvadere 2 door coupe in a super hot package) is really nice but I think I like the 71's best (ala Daisy Dukes yellow and black one). Would love to have seen a stock 72 Torino 2 door or an old 64 Polara 500 coupe or convertable or even a Chrysler 300, especially one from about 67-68 or even an old Dodge Charger RT from about 68-69. :-)

Cool photo set! Always great to see what's collected elsewhere.

Did you get a shot of the back end of the lowered T-bird? I saw a glimpse of it in another shot. Looked hot!

Thanks for posting this. There used to be good rod shows here when I was a kid and, having ben taken drag racing by my uncle when I was in Ohio, I used to go with my Dad to Santa Pod here. Battersea Bridge in London was packed with them every last Saturday of the month. Unfortunately the trend in the UK now is for the boy racer Jap cars that all look like something my mother would drive but with added neon and tech graphics.
