Weekend update/Run to the hills
Jun. 1st, 2005 10:28 pmIt seems my life has been stretches of mega busy-ness punctuated with little fun stuffs. This isnt a bad thing, but it's beginning to feel a tad bipolar. This coming weekend only adds to that notion. Jeff and I will head up Friday morning for the first bears weekend at Hillside Campgrounds. I never have the highest expectations so early in the season; I cannot recall any time that there wasnt at least some rain to go with the inevitable cold. It's still fun, however, since we get to meet some friends we havent seen since last year, and besides, we enjoy camping and could use a break. Having a heated camping trailer makes it even easier to tolerate iffy weather. We have a total of four weekends planned for the year. Should be a blast as usual.
The previous Friday I took Jeff to experience Cirque du Soleil's Varekai, which had come to Baltimore. It seemed a nice little birthday gift for him. Mom tagged along as well. As usual, I was fascinated by the show. Playful, smart and involving story told through amazing and graceful human body movements. We all enjoyed our time there.
On Saturday Jeff went to PA as I did yard work and brought his nephew Cole down and we kept him entertained and just a tad subverted at the movies as I had posted before in my "Gay Uncle" post. Sunday was the Orioles game (damn O's lost to the Detroit Tigers 6-8. Was a good game though), a walk to Harborplace and the ESPN Zone and then to Chinese dinner. COle slept well that night after all the excitement.
Monday we skipped the trip to DC amid reports of huge crowds and traffic, so Jeff took Cole to the mall while I did garden and garage stuff. They then came here for a nice cookout before heading back to PA. All in all, Cole had a great time and had a lot to tell his family and friends. Since it's quite evident I wont have kids of my own, I will make do with this instead. I can make use of my Daddy instincts (okay, my 'other' Daddy instincts!) and make a difference in a youngun's life. It feels good.
The cameras are filling up with pictures and I have to get some of them posted. Hopefully when I get back on Sunday.
