Still here, busy as a one-armed paper hanger with little breaks in between. I guess I am too proud to ask for help where I could really use it, but that's just my nature. I'm managing by prioritizing things and chipping away at the major stuff at the same time attacking the little tasks a few at a time. I am still behind from the injuries and sicknesses from the last few years. It's kinda shocking how easy it is to fall behind.
Some updates:
Hillside was fun, with the best weather yet for this time of year. Friday had some rain, but not a lot. Saturday and Sunday were suddenly mid August-like. I got to work on my tan. The threat of weather and the historic past soakings tended to keep a lot of people away. Saw what looked like
daxcub puttering about on a motorcycle on Sunday, but he totally ignored my calling out. It must have been him then. *g*
The house and garage are getting some new doors. The Pease 'Concept' doors that open onto the deck have been nothing but a pain, not to mention drafty and leaky. I am replacing them with a pair of Andersen 'Frenchwood' 400-series. They are vault-like as far as feel and weathersealing. These will take a sizeable chunk out of my wallet too. The garage gets a replacement entry door. At least that's cheap. I'm glad I am able to save a lot on installation costs by doing everything myself. That's where my comfort zone is.
Trip to Texas has been cancelled. Now I am trying to plan something a bit more local and vacation-like (the trip had been centered around Jeff's cheffly work duties). Undecided where to go. P-town? New England? Maine? Toronto? Next year we hope to make it out west to Cali for a coupla weeks. This year we'd been hoping to go north for a change. Suggestions?
Well, back to the grind. After I take a shower and get some sleep first.
