...but 40 gigs is not big enough for an iPod.

With what I have in there now, I have a little less than 10 gigs left. And with my latest rip-a-thon of CDs, I might have to clear out some old stuff. I rip at 192k/s CBR for the best balance of file size and sound quality (plus these thousands of files sit on a server here and form the basis of the whole-house 'jukebox').

Looks like Apple needs to come up with a 100 gig model. I'm sure I'll fill that up too. lol

I feel so inadequate with my ipod mini. :) I only have certain playlists on my ipod at a time. It's not too bad. But I do feel a bit limited.. I'm sure I'd fill up the 40G model if given the chance.

I DO like the iPod mini. Even though it's not as good a value, and it's not very big on storage, it wins on the physical size and it's typically Apple user friendliness.

I'm sure you can make due with 40gb. You don't have to syncronize your entire library all the time. I don't foresee apple making huge capacity iPods anytime soon as I suspect that the people who want and are willing to pay for them are few and far between.

It's amazing the progression of technology. There was a point when a gig for a PC was an endless amount of space.

We're becoming digital pack rats storing endless amounts of files and data we'll never fully use...except for music and porn *wicked grin*

My music and videos have far, far exceeded the about of pr0n spead out over the PCs here.

I have one PC with a full terabyte of hard drive space in it. Someday that will seem quaint I am sure.
