Provincetown bound

In a few hours from now, Jeff and I will be heading up to Provincetown for Bear Week. A stop tonight in PA at Jeff's 'rents to drop off Kodi and hitch up the trailer, a good night's rest and an early rise on Friday morning to head on up. Hopefully we get there with some time to spare, allowing us to set up everything then head downtown for a while. Last year we arrived late, in the middle of a downpour and had to set up in the dark while getting soaked.

Both of us can't wait.

How many LJers plan on being on town anywhere from from the 11th to the 19th? I know rootbeer1 and qbear will be there, slothel and his giant pooch are going to be there all week, and griffmoss will make a showing later on. If anyone wants to get together (and since my internet access will be nearly zero), IM me via my profile page or call me at 443- eight one two -6030. I won't be there...I don't even know what vacation is like anymore...I'm not hairy and/or muscular so it would be just another bear run for me - ignored and rejected at best. And the loneliest place in the world is indeed a crowd where you feel unwanted. So why would I waste the money?

Well, despite it being Bear Week, the reason we go up at this time is because others we know are there as well. We wont sign up for the bear run itself unlike last year where we got the package and went to one event. For me, that was a waste of money, especially since any of the so-called events could be attended with a small fee a la carte anyway. Even so, we most likely wont do any of 'em.

As for the hairy/muscles/bear thing, even though it does happen to be bear week, you'd never know it. The town will be filled as always with just about every type of humanity. You could easily find some hairy, musclebound lesbians too. The other reason I enjoy this week is that it aint all about the bears. If someone disses you because of some apparent flaw they perceive in you, then they arent anyone you'd want to associate with anyway. Their loss. I gave up on most bear runs for that reason anyway. I changed it up to be that I dont attend something like this because of the bears. I go instead to be myself, meet up with some friends, hopefully make new ones, and just be myself. I can stare at the bears if I want to. I go mainly to Provincetown to enjoy the quirky little New England seaside town, the food, to watch people, get some sun, run into friends on the street, etc. No agendas, no posturing, no ill will.
