There's an old saying that says something to the effect that if all one has is a hammer, then everything around you is a nail.

The same thing is true for label makers/printers.

I have a couple standalone Brother labelers that are wonderful little beasts. They print onto adhesive vinyl backings using a thermal process, then overlay the completed label with a clear vinyl laminating tape. The labels are practically indestructible and weatherproof. The battery powered standalone printers are great for labeling circuit breakers, wires, jacks, camping gear crates, etc. The PC version I have uses tape up to 1 1/2 " wide and can print graphics or use any installed fonts. These make great little bumper stickers, and are good in industrial and garage settings. So, when I get out my tray of various color and size label tapes and start making labels for a particular task, I often make more that find themselves on various things. It's almost like being OCD.

Must. Label. Everything. Now.

My first exposure to something like this was when I was a kid, & my parents still married to each other, my dad printed a little label & affixed it to the glove compartment door of our '76 Seville. It read: "SHUT UP".

Having driven with my mother on many occasions, I can understand why.

Actually, my dad has printed that little label for every wife he's had. At this point, I should mention he's been divorced 3 times... though not necessarily for the SHUT UP thing.

Oh the current gen label makers are fantastic, the older Dymo mechanical ones that embossed onto plastic tape were cool for their day but the output was so, so.

At work we use the Dymo electronic ones to make labels for mailboxes and they work great, except for mine which has decided to not print right.

Reminds me of being a kid. My parents had to hide the Dymo™ labelmakers from me lest I use up all the label-making tape.

And I recently acquired the remastered XII by BJH on CD, so it’s funny that that should be your NP.
