A Wii fit

Jeff finally got his Wii Balance Board/Wii Fit today. The thing is a hoot. The exercises are simple, yet pretty effective, and the balance-oriented games a challenge. I can see us using this quite a bit in the future.

He bought the item from an eBay seller that had high marks. Well, her marks are going to take a dive after he's done with her. She misrepresented the shipping method, changed her story numerous times and sent the thing out much later than she originally said she would, using USPS standard shipping rather than the second-day UPS service she said would be used. This is yet another example of someone making up in shipping costs a lower-than-usual sale, of course. But far too much was changed after the sale, and sending the thing out a couple weeks after the sale rather than immediately does no good either. Anyway, we got the new toy, and some eBay seller is gonna take a hit in their rating.

I tried to post this a while ago, but LJ was completely inaccessible to me for at least an hour's time. I spent the evening putting in LAN segments and taking a nap. I could not help but think of the Great LJ Evaporation rumor. But, it's still here, imagine that. I'd miss you guys 'n' gals if the service were to go. I would not even care too much about losing a 'permanent' account because, in the long run, it's been worth it for me, and the friendships gained, stories told and read, the laughs and tears, it's all priceless.

As for Ebay and Amazon, I've had pretty good luck with both, especially with Amazon for I have not done Ebay in a long while and that includes 3rd party sellers on Amazon, I do what you guys did, checked their raitings before jumping in, that's how I bought my little Nikon over a year ago, through a 3rd party seller w/ no issues, same with the Infinity speakers I bought last Feb, the MS Pinball Arcade game I bought used and other used resellers of items to get a good price.

I've heard of people being burned by 3rd party sellers and such, but so far, knock on wood.

Yeah, I noted the downtime this afternoon, but I was busy enough to not worry too much at the time other than note and find the LJ status page and found out what was up.

The actual item was exactly as described, so that is not an issue. The main thing was the hemming and hawing about shipment, and how things kept changing after the sale. Jeff was guaranteed immediate shipment via two-day UPS, and the actual shipment occurred far later, using the cheapest method available. Each email exchange got a different excuse, and more delays. The seller did not meet all the terms of the original sale, and that's what will take her rating down.

Oh I agree with you there, I was just saying that I have had generally good luck when I've bought on line.

Being prompt and doing what is promised is the way to go, but what your seller did, not so much.

Would love to try wii fit, but I exceed the max weight limit by about 111lbs.

Sadly, the thing is not for everyone, and especially those who can benefit the most from it. I was actually surprised to see that the limit stated in the specs was 330 pounds. I was worried that it would be far less, making it possibly not usable by either of us or a lot of our friends.

I guess I am just one of those who still does not trust buying second hand unless I know the seller really well. I have never bought a used car even much less anything off of Ebay. I have been tempted at times, but it is stories like this one that make me hesitate every time.

Hear hear re LJ. I asked a chum recently, who has LJ account but does not blog or post, whether or not he reads the LJ's of others. He said he did not as he felt he was being intrusive!! How sweet is that??? Bless him. I told him I felt that is the whole point, to be nosey....er..... or perhaps to dip into the breadth of peoples experiences and learn n support where appropriate (snigger)

The big worry for me if LJ was to go is that I wouldn't have contact details for everyone on here - I'd lose everyone!
