Today would have been Mom's 84th birthday. I'm trying my best not to be overcome with sadness that she's gone. Being buoyed by good memories, and keeping warm wearing her favorite sweater (it's only a little tight, actually, it was generously hand-knit) helps.

Happy Birthday, Mom.

The pain of loss never goes away but some how gets easier to shoulder as time passes .I try to smile and think of the good times when I think of the loved ones I have lost and it helps.

Taking time to savor the good memories is a healthy way to observe the birthday. I know it may feel like baby steps, but you sound better. Good for you.

I know how much it hurts to be seperated
from the one(s) who loved you best.

If you want to cry a bit, that's okay.

Your Mom loved you, and you'll see her again someday.

Big Hugs, Phil.

*huuuug* my mom's birthday was October 29th, and even though she passed away in 1992, I'm always a little down around that time.

By the way, I loved the part about the sweater. I brought back two of my dad's sweatshirts from Boulder City.

They were sweatshirts I'd given him 20 years ago, and they were his absolute faves.

I held one of the sweatshirts in my hand this morning, and I felt so warm, just feeling that connection with him again.

On that note, I have several of George's jackets and coats.. they all fit me now that I weigh what he weighed back in 1998.

His sweat shirts fit me, too.

I like wearing his clothes. I feel closer to him than ever when I do.

The only jewelry that I wear is a silver spoon ring that he gave me back in 1987.

It's a wonderful connection to him.

George was like a father to me.

Strength to you, good man, on this day. I know your Mom would want you to be happy, and is proud of you. She is still with you, Phil.
