LJ reliability or lack thereof

Once again, Livejournal's emailing of comment notifications is spotty to nonexistent, at least for me. So, if you replied to a comment I left somewhere and were expecting an answer, chances are I was left in the dark. Again.

Nope, not just you. It's just LJ's steady systematic decline/death spiral.

I've been chatting with the folks at Posterous. If they implement Friends-locking I'm moving over there in a heartbeat.

mine are in a 1-2 hour delay of gettin' to email. Wonderin' if it's yahoo or lj. eh.

I've been getting email notifications from my LJ. Now, FB is another story. They show up .. maybe.

comments left to me have been delayed up to 8 hours. I very well could be the hosting site.

I don't necessarily see a death spiral either but even I've noticed the delay in the past day or two myself, otherwise, they seem to be dropping down fairly regularly. Sometimes, my Blackberry gets them before they pop up in my Yahoo notifier when at home as I receive Yahoo emails on my phone.

I sometimes wonder if it's the site, Yahoo being slow to notify of new emails or sometimes both.

LJ may be owned by the Russians but it IS maintained by a crew here stateside as far as I know and I know latency can exist in the internet too but that is largely due to the distance factor between points.

I do not find it to be a real concern.
