Continuing my efforts to bring culture to the unwashed masses of LJ (with my usual twists, mind you), I bring you Jacques Snyman singing an (unknown to me) operatic piece. Many of you would appreciate the apparently intentional wardrobe malfunction.

That incongruous feeling in your brain after watching this are its attempts to reboot.

Any feelings further south is y'all's business. ;-)

I had to look him up because he's so pretty! And that voice... swoon.

He is amazing. Not just looks and talent but using both to better the lives of others. I find it interesting that even though they have all that about "It Gets Better" they really avoid using the word "gay".

It's quite lovely, as long as you don't think about it too hard. Sharing now... :-D

Well, that certainly puts a twist on being a countertenor. Still don't care much for that particular range, but with the exception of a couple of false landings, he is quite good and certainly causes no pain for the eyes. Now if he was a bass-baritone, I might have to excuse myself to take care of some unexpected business. :)

Now, I would expect someone like him to bust out in basso profundo thunder. But to see him perform this so perfectly makes me grin from ear-to-ear. And I still want to ravage him just as much. ;)

It would make for a fine stage presence eh?

I suspect if more people performed in attire like that, attendance at fine art performances would go up.

Indeed! "Madame Butterfly" performed by the cast of 300 and similar? I'll have season tickets to The Met in a heartbeat. ;)

Incongruous - that body with that voice, though both very nice. To see someone that stunningly burly (apparently the wardrobe functions precisely as intended) willing to put the effort into delivering an aria probably written for an 18th century castrato suggests a certain level of bravery worthy of both fascination and respect. Possibly, YouTube is the perfect venue for this.
I can always do with more culture, however it arrives.

I absolutely live for this sort of thing. An amazing talent he has, plus willing to showcase it to people and keep alive centuries-old music, what's not to love?

While I don't tend to watch TV talent shows, I do enjoy when someone manages to sing their way out of preconceived perceptions of them. The reactions from audiences and judges falling right in with my own amazement is wonderful. Such folk deserve to be recognized for the talents, despite the outer wrapper (or because of it, as the case may be).
