Doodling away the time when I shouldn't
Jun. 23rd, 2012 05:56 pmToday's Google Doodle in honor of Alan Turing has been keeping me from doing more important stuff around the house. Anyone with an interest in the earliest computational devices (or puzzle fans for that matter) needs to spend some time trying to figure it out. Highly addicting!

Date: 2012-06-24 03:31 pm (UTC)But kind of sad so few of the posts mentioned he's still on the books as a sex offender - the 'gross indecency' charge still stands for being gay. I really think that should be pardoned, despite what the government says about it (they refused after a MASSIVE petition for it).
He is the man who invented the computer (well large parts of the theory to go towards it, and Ace which apparently my Dad is helping renovate), and also a pretty good candidate for why I'm not speaking German now since the codebreaking did help win the war - so shame he gets rewarded with a stain on his character like that over something that now isn't criminal and should never have been criminal.
