One of many

I voted today. I've voted in every presidential election since I was allowed to vote. I do feel it's my civic duty. Part of the problems we are facing is caused by people's apathy or just plain laziness. If people don't get involved. the remaining numbers of people can too easily skew the vote. The election results can't accurately reflect the will of the people if people arent willing to play their part. And I don't want to hear any bitching about politics from those who don't vote.

Anyway, I did my part. On a Diebold touchscreen machine. I have to say that I do like the voting process. From the smart cards to the simple layout of the ballot. My only problem is that for all I know, my vote could have stopped right there at that screen. I have no idea if it was or was not counted, or changed after the fact. As much as I promote technology, there is something I just don't trust about this.

I can't wait till this election is over. Problem is, I am still waiting for the last one to be over.

Color me disenfranchised.

Yeah...I express-mailed my absentee ballot. For all I know it was used to light great big republican cigars.

I think you may have hit on a big reason why some people don't vote. It's not apathy or laziness, it's a feeling that their vote isn't really counted... that election results are being engineered somehow.

This notion is becoming more believable in recent years.

The votes are not only feeling technically engineered, but even more they appear to be 'socially' engineered through disinformation, fear, wedge issues and ideology. People arent voting what they feel or belive; rather they are being swayed or told how they should vote by others.
