While I was paycheckless during my disability (yes, totally zero income for most of the year) I had to completely stop indulging in many of the things which brighten my days and make things fun, as well as shut down many of the projects I was starting or in the middle of. Those who know me well understand that my tinkering with stuff, building and modifying things and listening to music while doing so 'completes' me and makes me who I am in various ways. I cant pen my mind up in a cage. I need to do things. I need to experience things. As Johnny Five in Short Circuit would say, I need INPUT! IIIIINPUUUUT!!!

With regular pay now coming in I can finally catch up on my 'input'. And 'output' as well. I've patiently waited till I can pick up on some of the CDs I have been aching to buy. Two of these that were at the very top of the list are from [livejournal.com profile] jeffinthebox aka Jeffrey Altergott. After hearing samples, rave reviews, even being a small part in helping with his latest release, it pained me that I couldnt get my hands on the final products due to my lacko funds. Well, I am a patient sort (sometimes). Well, today my (first) order from CDBaby.com arrived:

w00t!

I don't need to add my voice to all the deserved high marks and rave reviews that already have appeared in so many other journals, but instead will sum it up: Gather all the the praise and add it all up. Multiply by two. It now equals just a fraction of how I feel about these two works.

Thanks Jeff. Musically, you've made my year.

In other areas, I am formulating a plan for the performance mods I want to make to the Mini and started collecting parts and info. I am finally fixing up some other stuff around the house that has been irritating me for the last year. I am in the planning stages of a 20x30 garage addition as well as a separate 20x24 shed/garage to finally house all the machinery and equipment that is making the garage unusable. Big changes are coming.

Yeah, I picked up those two albums via iTunes earlier this year, and I just love Jeffery's voice. While some of the topics of the songs are challenging, the music is superb and the lyrics finely crafted.

Hm, time to fire up the iPod and tune to a certain artist...

JOhn.

They're awesome CDs. "Runt" was in my car's CD player for the longest time until I managed to get an iPod adapter installed. Now "Icarus Grounded" stays in my car's CD player for when I don't feel like hooking up my iPod because I'm only going to be traveling for about 5-10 minutes. For short drives, I listen to "The Last Song" because it's perfect for short drives and it's my favorite song off that CD.

I don't think any artist has ever managed more than a straight month of being in my CD player. Mr. Altergott has managed to spend more than 5 months there. Awesome stuff.

It's great when you can finally unclench and start to treat yourself right!
Sounds like the next year is gonna be much more productive and rewarding than the last.
Go for it!

Glad to hear things are going better for you, buddy. And thanks for the reminder with the reference to "Short Circuit". I always smile when I think of that film.

Ironically tonight I just met a guy who's had Jeff produce his last album. He'd given me a copy so that I can listen in case I decide to play a little bass for him. Was flipping through the liner notes and saw Jeff's name.

Now? Coinkidink? *brr* *hehehe*
