Ya know, the latest "50 Things..." meme making the rounds is quite insightful, but all it would take is the inclusion of a Social Security number and a couple other tidbits and it becomes an identity theft goldmine.

I'm just sayin'.

actually the information in the meme alone is enough for many people to get whatever else they needed.

I suddenly imagined you being from Fargo.

Just another reason for me not to do memes, eh? *sigh*

Well, some memes are cool. Ones like "Which Pussy Are You" dont get you much other than nazztuh pictures. Something like the 50 Things meme, while they can be interesting, are way too detailed for unlocked posts, or as far as I'm concerned, posting at all.

*hugz*

I agree - so in that vein, you need to visit SF so we can discuss this meme in person rather than post it! :)

By the time you've answered 50 questions, you've written a book about yourself.

You know, I could worry about that. Of course, half the information in my journal could probably be used against me, if someone took a mind to utilize it.

I'm not gonna live that way. Filling out that meme was fun, and I'm not going to regret it. But that's just me.

If a meme has me writing full answers for more than five questions, I don't bother. 50 is way out there-- I have better uses for my time.

Everyone tells the truth and nothing by the truth in their memes?

I would have to agree with your assessment 100%; it is certainly too private of a meme to deal with. Of course, if you use "incorrect" information; an identity thief will be royally screwed, which is what they deserve. Individuals who do such things have essentially no scruples whatsoever and have essentially committed "psychological" rape against their victims.

Ya know... I thought about that as I was filling it out. And then I thought... If they REALLY wanna be me... Well, good luck and enjoy as I need a vacation from it! ;)

I remember one not too long ago that asked the city you were born in, your birthdate, and your mother's maiden name. As I said then, I swear Donald Rumsfeld writes half this shit. If I do a meme, I try to make is as nonsensical as possible.

Example:
Q: Name one vegetable that you refuse to eat.
A: Karen Ann Quinlan

Identity theft is a bitch to deal with. I've had to on a small scale once or twice, but I still don't disclose my personal information. And 50 questions? Didn't I have to deal with that crap from my dad after he got remarried?

heheh... I'll pass.
