Less than two weeks ago I weighed in at roughly 258-260 pounds. Today's visit to the scale showed 241. I anticipate at least another 5-10 pound reduction, if not more, till I am over this damn malady. My abs are starting to show, but not in a good way as is often well demonstrated by [livejournal.com profile] dr_scott (perennial winner of 'Best Abs' on my friends list). People are starting to comment on how pale I look. As if I dont already feel the need to hide in a cave somewhere. To top it off I was under the impression that my appointment for the ct scan was today (an impression only confirmed further by the phone call notifying me of the appointment today). So I downed the detestable barium solutions and headed in, only to be told I was a day early. So here I sit waiting for the nasty solution to finish worming it's way through my system and making me feel queasy. I'll spare my dear readers the gross details.

I can at least look forward to a repeat of the ordeal tomorrow. Not. Fuck.

In the meantime, I am tinkering around with my journal styles (I really need to bone up on CSS to make something really look like I want, I can't settle on a predefined style). Also, goodies have been trickling on for the new monster of a beast computer, that will probably the subject of a later post. I'll probably hide that behind a cut to prevent exposure to excessive amounts of teh geek.

Moi? Best abs? Maybe for an amateur....

Ugh on the pointless barium. Good luck with that, and I hope you get better soon.

You mentioned that you'd been sick when we chatted online, I didn't know it hit you that hard. Sorry to hear that.

I usually read you from my friends' page, so wasn't familiar with your layout, this one is pretty elegant. Nice!

Ironically I rarely see other's LJ schemes/layouts unless I venture in to read comments in most cases. I'm actually trying to make my LJ layout work well with my friends entries. Trying to find something that does not become borked when someone posts a badly coded meme and such.

Sorry to hear of the appointment mixup and the needless downing of the barium.

As for geek stuff, fire away! :-)

(I built my current PC btw initially in 2001, but last fall, almost totally upgraded the whole box save for the drives and case.)

I felt the need to geek out while trying to fix problems, so a new machine seemed like something to tinker with as the weather gets colder.

I remember this process so well.
I totally hated every minute of it.
Sorry you have to go through all of this.

It takes a lot out of me. I hope to get to the bottom of it for good, so to speak.

Thanks for the well-wishing!

I don't know how extensive your diverticulitis is, but I do know that once I got the infections taken care of that go along with it I have been pretty successful in keeping it under control. Fiber, lots of water, lots of attention paid to what things move through smoothly and what things do not. I have had to cut peanut butter, curry and raspberries out of my diet and I have cut down on red meat intake.
I find I am always aware of what goes in to me because of the impact it can have on the way out.
