More elephantine schadenfreude: It seems VA Senator George Allen has seemingly overlooked telling Congress of his stock options. More Republican macaca monkey business. It just keeps getting more and more delicious.

Weekend was lots of garage work. Saturday, rebuilt the front end of Jeff's S-10 4WD to get through PA state inspection. helped assemble a new engine for a customer's truck while I was there, then came home, cleaned up, had dinner and went to see Open Season. Nice, light entertainment. Today was a take-it-easy day for a change, with a trip to Columbia Mall and to get groceries for the week. The Bloom grocery store has the most powerful hand dryer in their restroom. Powerful enough to dry your hands in less than ten seconds. They all should be like this. The new Apple store in the Mall was kinda fun. Must control urge to drink the kool-aid.

This week will be full of busy stuff at work, and hurried attempts to get things taken care of around the house as fall sets in. I have to get the new sheels for the MINI, and will get a new set of tires and wheels for the Stratus. Damn those undersized Michelins that last forever yet become harder than hockey pucks (and just as slippery). Gotta line up a decent contractor to re-roof the house and garage before winter this week as well. Being Hairy Harry Homeowner means unending upkeep. My problem is finding someone who can do the works as good as I can, which, to be quite honest, is very difficult. I'm not bragging, I just know what the job entails to be done right, and far too often so-called 'professionals' cut corners, rush or just dont know what they're doing. If I had an extra couple weeks off, I'd do the ordeal myself. Sadly, I dont, and I have far too much on my plate these days for such a project.

In all of the 'excitement' this week, there is a bright spot. On Tuesday, Jeff is going to pick up the new member of our family. Yep, we are getting another puppy. He's coming from the same breeder where we got Bear, so hopefully he will have similar temperament and disposition. I wont be able to see him till Friday though. I cant wait.

On the puppy front, glad you are getting a replacement for Bear. Dogs are treasured beasts in my book.

Despite everything, glad things appear to be going along pretty well otherwise.

I hope things keep looking up around here. It's been rough this year. I cant wait to have the puppy. He will be eventually joined by a companion, possibly next year.

XLerator hand dryers (http://www.exceldryer.com/Products/xlerator.asp) are a wonderful thing.

Puppies: even more wonderful.

Thanks for the link! I was considering putting one at the garage, since they rely on paper towels for drying. I could not remember the manufacturer. Hell, I might install one in the washroom here at the house.

This unit stand in stark contrast to the ones at the UA 24 multiplex theater where we saw the movie on Saturday night. These have an awkward phrase among the wording on the front panel that instructs one to "Place hands under near the nozzle to star operation" Yes, 'star', not 'start'. Engrish enshrined on a silkscreened escutcheon on the thing. They also are even less effective than the World Dryer 'push button/receive bacon' models that everyone knows and (doesnt) love. The dryers do their job far better than the custodians do keeping the restrooms clean. It's disgusting!

Elephantine - good word choice. I almost pissed myself laughing when I read that AZ's Kolbe knew about Foley in 2000.

Hooray for new puppy.

I think even actual elephants are getting upset at their association with Republicans these days.

That entire Log Cabin crowd has always creeped me out.

Also, have you ever tried to squeeze an elephant into a closet?

They're beyond using schadenfreude.

Let's just hope (where applicable) people get out and vote this November. It's soooo damn crucial. But not the pubs--and especially the gay variety, they need to stay home and butt out that day.

There's a seminar sponsored by our local equality org. here in NC with the topic: "Is it OK to be Gay? And Republican?" That's a NO brainer. I'll go and be a real pain in the ass.

Make sure you and Jeff post pics of the new baby!

I'm all in favor of speedy hand dryers, but I still want the option of paper towels. I'm all for environmental savings & restroom cleanliness, but these dryers are of little help if I happen to duck into the restroom just to get something to blow my nose.

good luck with the pup!

wish i lived closer to you I've always wanted to work on car's, it would be great to help you and learn from you.

on npr today someone being interviewed said that some gay activist were going to out gay republican staffers. and that there was a list on the net going around. this should be intersting.

You know I didn't think about it but on one of the news channel.
They were talking about the fact that if Foley was working in a normal company or corporation, his ass would be soo fired for sexual harrassment.

you know the question I want to ask him?

"Congressman Foley, why can't you fuck someone your own age?"

best regards,
pete
