Surgery Update
Oct. 12th, 2010 04:36 pmHello friends of Phil/Bender/Greatbearmd :)
First and foremost I want to take this time to thank each and everyone of you for your kind thoughts for my partner/lover and more important BEST FRIEND Phil. He means the world to me and I'd be lost without him. I know he would say thanks to you all as well.
Surgery UPDATE: Phil had his surgery done Monday. He went into to operating room at 11:30 am and was finished at 3:30 pm. The doctor came to me and told me everything went well and that he should have less pain now that the procedure was done. He told us both that the pain will never fully go away because we all have aches and pains as we age. The doctor also told me that I would be allowed to see him later that day. My question, in a joking tone, to him was when we could and if we could go dancing next week for our 10th anniversary:) He just smiled and said if Phil was up to it we should enjoy ourselves.
When I finally got to his room around 5:15 that afternoon I saw a pale ashy colored man lying in the bed. In my ten + years with Phil I never saw him look so helpless and frail. I slowly walked up to the bed as to not wake him if he was indeed asleep. The first words he spoke was "BOOOOOOCHIE", his nickname for me. I was so relieved. Although he was in such pain and discomfort I did not know what and where to kiss him. I don't think he fully knew I was there as they had him some pretty good meds for the pain. I sat and held his hand for hours and we chatted or more I chatted and told him how much I love him. I could see in his eyes he was glad I was there and needed me to be there for him. In and out of naps we spoke for an hour or so. I told him I needed to go and take care of Kodi as he was home alone for over 10 hours that day. Sure enough he had a present waiting for me.
Today, Tuesday I called from work to see how my man was doing. He was in much better spirits and far less pain. I stopped by earlier to see him and came home to tend to Kodi so I would not get any more presents like yesterday. I will head back to see him in another hour and have dinner in his room with him. I will let Phil tell you about the nice food service department they have at this hospital.
Again thanks everyone for your kind words. I will let Phil update the rest of the story when he gets home tomorrow. I am sure he will ready to get back at his computer. I am so glad he is going to be A O K>
